About the Client

Our client is a leading provider of operational IT systems to the nuclear, power generation and utility markets. The business is built on long-term relationships with its customers and the company is committed to deliver on time to stringent quality standards.

Our client has an on-going programme of expansion to meet its customer programmes and is now seeking to recruit additional experienced project managers to handle the expanding workload in the development and installation of control and automation systems.

Summary of Role

Working within an accountability framework reporting to the Delivery Manager of the Nuclear sector, this role is for a project manager tasked with responsibility for delivering projects to cost, time and specification. On occasions, a reasonable amount of travel to customer sites is expected.

Candidates must have Software/Hardware Development experience as a Project Manager, including schedule/time management, customer management, team/resource management and full financial management/control over budgets.

Role Description

  • Managing Control Systems / IT projects in the Nuclear sector to demanding timescales
  • Ensuring that Projects are delivered to timescales, specification and budget
  • Full financial responsibility for projects ranging from £100K - Millions in value
  • People-management responsibility for leading and motivating a team of software engineers (typically 5 to 10+)
  • Hold regular report and progress meetings with clients
  • Provide front line consultancy and facilitation to clients in the early stages of potential projects
  • Assist in securing future business by cultivating customer expectations through excellent delivery
  • Responsibility for Quality Control for all projects involved

Essential Requirements

  • Demonstrable full project management experience delivering Software Engineering solutions with a track record of success
  • Demonstrable experience of Microsoft Project
  • Must have good customer facing skills
  • Strong leadership skills, including team management experience
  • Current driving licence

Desirable Requirements

  • A recognized project management qualification (for example, PRINCE 2, APMP) and/or certified training
  • Ideally been involved with graduate engineer development within projects
  • Solid grasp of Quality Management in an ISO9001 environment
  • Recent experience of project proposals and general bid work
