Packaging Technologist - UK East Midlands

We are seeking a Packaging Technologist to manage the interpretation of Customer briefs into effective packaging and decoration. To ensure that where possible all packaging is reduced and conforms to the relevant legislation.

Duties / Responsibilities

  • Spearhead, drive and direct the product development team to appraise initial concepts for packaging efficiency.
  • Develop packaging through robust testing, trials and development to confirm full supply chain for fit for purpose packaging.
  • Develop and issue accurate full technical component and manufacturing specifications.
  • Continue to source and encourage suppliers to present new / innovative packaging solutions, processes and developments.
  • Monitor product development timescales against agreed critical paths.
  • Operate corrective action procedures to reduce risk of repeated errors.
  • Conduct value analysis studies for potential cost saving.
  • Establish and maintain effective links / visits with key customers / suppliers and industry sources.
  • Complete and photograph mock-ups prior to presentation.
  • Brief production administration, where required.
  • Brief suppliers on componentry and request samples and quotes.
  • Re-source packaging, if applicable.
  • Prepare cutter guides for artwork preparation.
  • Supply the Research and Development department with componentry and relevant documentation for compatibility testing.
  • Attend, evaluate and distribute production trial results.
  • Complete reports relating to packaging, packaging waste and pre-production.
  • Check all artwork, carry out bar code origination and attend print runs.
