In the transport equipment sector, we have supplied programme and project management, interim management and change management services related to sub-contract and OEM work ranging in value from £10k up to £20m, at all senior engineering and management levels.

Sectors covered by our interim management UK based service include automotive, automotive components, aerospace engine systems and airframe, off-road vehicles, land/defence systems, agri-vehicles, mechanical handling equipment and rolling stock.

Some examples of interim management and recruitment assignments include:

  • Railway transport equipment - interim management UK assignments for Hunslet (now Holek Ridderkerk) in support of the new 3-car multiple rolling stock (Redditch-Lichfield) line.
  • Aerospace equipment - heat exchanger sub-contract programme management and mechanical handling equipment for the Airbus 380; also evaluation of production capability for aircraft seating for BE Aerospace.
  • Agricultural equipment - interim management work on feasibility assignments for spray irrigation systems, tractor components production troubleshooting, and engineering evaluation of tractor attachments
  • Off-road vehicle market - interim project engineering support for fork lift trucks (Narrow Aisle), road cleansing equipment (Johnston Engineering) and the design, production and marketing of defence vehicles (GKN Defence).
  • Interim project manager for Ryobi Castings UK Ltd, to evaluate work-in-progress inventories and to assess alternative operating strategies and equipment layouts to minimise in-plant stocks. Work included layout of mechanical handling systems and equipment selection.
  • Interim project management team to equip a 10,000 sq m facility for axles for IBC Vehicles (GKN Axles, Birmingham). This programme, with a total capital investment value of £20m, was scheduled to meet the OEM job 1 date.
  • Interim project engineer involved on review and upgrade of welding processes and a revamp of the in-plant storage facilities (Keiper Recaro, Birmingham) to meet the OEM delivery schedules.
