Psychometric Testing

Why use Psychometric Testing?

Psychometric testing helps us to select people who are best suited to the job and to decide where they may best be placed in a client organisation. Psychometric testing produces additional data which improves the quality of the selection decision. Candidates whose psychometric profile matches the job profile closely, are more likely to be successful in the role itself.

What Types of Tests are Used?

The choice of the psychometric testing programme will be based on the requirements of the job to be performed and the particular criteria appropriate to the role.

The psychometric testing routines for a management / executive role would typically include:

  • Personality testing. Options include Cattell's 16 Personality Factor Questionnaire (16PF), Saville & Holdsworth's Occupational Personality Questionnaire (OPQ) or MBTI (Myers-Briggs)
  • Ability testing e.g. Verbal, Numerical and Abstract (to identify strategic / conceptual thinking skills). For this we often use the GMA (Graduate Management Assessment) battery, a high level testing series appropriate to management / executive posts.
  • Specialist skills testing - to evaluate particular skills required to meet a specific role.
