Assignment Brief
The client company was formed in 1976, specialising in highly differentiated glass design, engineering and installation services. The company provides building owners, architects, specifiers and contractors with a single source of expertise in the glass fenestration market. Within 10 years, the client has established itself in the market, securing significant contracts and developing a reputation for supplying very highly qualified installation technicians and site management staff.
The client wished to recruit an experienced interim manufacturing/production manager, to handle all manufacturing and support operations in an expanding business (turnover ca. £5m pa), designing and assembling a range of quality/precision glazed architectural products. The manager would co-ordinate the internal company departments, to manage the accurate assembly of intricate metal and glazed components to schedule, as required for efficient performance of the site installation teams, meeting customer specifications and delivery targets.
Redmayne was commissioned to find a suitable executive manager, who would implement productivity improvements and could support continuing expansion of the business. It was expected that the manager would in time become a permanent member of the company management team.
