About the Client
Our client is a dynamic, established firm within the high pressure pumping equipment industry. The company was established 20 years ago, to supply high pressure pump sets for manufacturing industry. The firm has since expanded to encompass the design, assembly, test and commissioning of bespoke pumping modules for the burgeoning oil and gas sector.
All pump equipment sets are individually designed by their engineering department for the application and are skid mounted or containerised, complete with drive motors, controls etc. The design is safety critical; hence correct specification, documentation and performance are key to successful operation. Clients for the latest designs are companies in the oil and gas exploration and recovery business, much of this offshore.
Company turnover is around £8m currently, with a significant number of proposals/tenders in the pipeline. To meet the expanding order book, we were asked to find a qualified senior buyer to support the increasing project workload.
The Role The responsibilities of the senior buyer are focused on the effective procurement of all components and sub-assemblies required for the correct assembly, testing and commissioning of the end user equipment. This work includes:
- Preparation of preferred bidders lists, by researching and initial discussions with those suppliers who have the capacity and capability to meet our client's exacting technical and performance specifications.
- Assembly of technical specification, drawings, scope of supply, commercial terms and other documentation required for issue of enquiries to preferred bidders for quotation purposes.
- Evaluation of offers received from bidders, discussion with potential suppliers, negotiations and final evaluation, leading to contract finalisation.
- Order follow up including expediting of supplier's documentation and expediting of sub orders and contracted supplies to ensure compliance with contract, including scope, specification, quality, safety and other specified parameters.
- Final inspection and approval for delivery, on-site delivery acceptance and sign off, and all contract administration, including approval of payments.
