About the Client
Research and development work in this important sector includes applications for OEMs in India and China, for mass transport to agricultural vehicles, new applications; also upgrading existing power train to meet emissions legislation etc.
Our client works with all the major OEMs, Ford, GM etc, also on Formula One motor sport applications. Projects include alternative fuel systems research and development, emissions control systems and new technology research programmes. All projects are technology led, vary from £100k, up to £20m in value.
The client employs a number of qualified project managers from varying levels of seniority from recently qualified personnel to more experienced managers, handling several projects.
Scope of Recruitment Assignment
Our role was to identify a suitably qualified project manager for the planning of a complex new technology project. Important aspects of the project management work would be a well-developed skill in project control, and good technical understanding of power train development in the automotive sector. Because of the extensive client interaction on projects of this type, we were required to identify candidates with excellent client facing skills.
Redmayne's Recruitment Activity
Redmayne was commissioned to find an experienced project manager, who could demonstrate a good background of R &D projects in the automotive sector, with good project planning and management capability.
Candidates were sourced from database search, supplemented by Internet job board advertising and database servers. CVs for applicants who matched the job specification were reviewed in detail and a short list of suitable candidates prepared.
As for our normal files search assignments, we presented candidates who met the specification and responded well during initial rounds of telephone interviews.
The final selection/interview of candidates and job offer was then handled by the client.
