About the Client

Our client for this interim production management assignment is a UK leader in the design and manufacture of furniture for the educational sector. The furniture range is modular and meets the end users' demands for robust, useful and well-designed products. In the last 3 years, business has been expanding to meet the increased demands in this market sector.

Initial Interim Production Management Assignment - Objectives

We were asked to support this SME initially with an interim production management programme aimed at productivity improvement through lean manufacturing techniques, involving a change from make-to-order to make-to-stock. The assignment was directed towards achieving a major improvement in labour productivity, delivery and quality performance and a reduction in work-in-progress and finished goods stock. Our interim production management work focused on process mapping each stage of production to balance each line, to reduce stocking, to eliminate waste and to cut down returns.

Scope of Recruitment Assignment

Following the successful completion of the interim production management programme, Redmayne was commissioned to find a suitable production manager, who could implement the productivity improvements and could support continuing expansion of the business.

Candidates were then sourced from database search, supplemented by Internet job board advertising and database servers. CVs for applicants who matched the job specification were reviewed in detail and a short list of suitable candidates prepared.

As for our normal files search assignments, we presented candidates who met the specification and responded well during an initial telephone interview.

The final selection/interview of candidates and job offer was then handled by the client.
