About the Client
Our client is a dynamic, fast growing, market leading West Midlands company, engaged in the design and manufacture of bespoke specialist products and fitments. Turnover is currently around £25m.
The company has, in 15 years, consistently delivered an innovative range of quality products, backed by a high level of customer service.
The next phase of development was to exploit the opportunities of ERP for inbound logistics and materials control.
Scope of Assignment:
Redmayne's brief was to recruit a procurement manager to handle this important phase of development, involving managing the company's supply chain activities, systems and personnel.
We prepared a brief for the assignment, which included background information about the company, its markets, management and financial performance, together with a job description, candidate profile, personal attributes and terms of employment.
This brief formed a useful platform upon which the candidate search could be initiated and implemented. Candidates were then sourced from advertisement and database search, supplemented by selective headhunting.
For advertising, options were discussed and costs agreed with the client.
Redmayne prepared content and supervised artwork for publication of advertisements, together with a project time schedule - circa 6-8 weeks from authorisation, to provision of shortlist for client interview. CVs for applicants who matched the job specification were reviewed in detail and a short list of suitable candidates prepared.
Candidates were interviewed in depth at our office and qualifications checked.
We presented a shortlist of 3-5 candidates to the client. Our work included writing up interview reports detailing candidates' knowledge, skills and experience and how these matched the requirement. We arranged full psychometric tests for the finally short-listed candidates and administered agreed candidate travel and related expenses, on behalf of client.
Redmayne was on hand for the final interviews, which were conducted by the client. We were able to give advice and help draft the terms of an offer of employment.
We contacted the client periodically during the first six months of employment to monitor progress and to resolve any issues.
The client is now seeing a significant gain from the improved supply chain management practices in the company.
