About the Client
Our client is a UK based engineering contracting company-supplying materials handling systems and equipment and proprietary engineering expertise to the pharmaceutical industry world-wide. It has a market leading position in many countries with several blue-chip pharmaceutical companies. The client employs over 100 permanent staff, mainly in their Birmingham offices and manufacturing facility.
It is a growing business, with annual sales of £10-12 million, the majority of which is exported, with single contract values, in the range of £50k to over £2m.
Scope of Project Manager Role
Full responsibility for all aspects of designated contracts, with a view to maximising profits whilst maintaining schedules and delivering a good trouble free installation, giving a high degree of customer satisfaction.
Liaise closely with the customers (sometimes also involving main contractors and/or agents), sub-contractors of equipment and services and internal departments, including management of hand over from sales, various customer meetings and discussions.
Cost control and financial reporting of contracts, including regular forecasting of costs to complete, optimisation of project cash flow, control of sales and purchase invoicing, bank guarantees, letters of credit, re-work reporting etc.
Commercial negotiations with customers and suppliers, including dealing with change control / variations to contract under the company's designated procedures.
Redmayne's Recruitment Work
Redmayne was commissioned to find an experienced and qualified project manager, who could demonstrate a good background of R &D projects in the pharmaceutical sector. The candidate would have good project planning and management capability.
Candidates were sourced from database search, supplemented by Internet job board advertising and database servers. CVs for applicants who matched the job specification were reviewed in detail and a short list of suitable candidates prepared.
As for our normal files search assignments, we presented candidates who met the specification and responded well during initial rounds of telephone interviews.
The final selection/interview of candidates and job offer /terms of the appointment were handled by the client.
