Interim Project Management, Project Engineering
Project engineering is an essential and integral part of our capital project management activity. It involves all of the engineering support activity connected with project definition, including plant layout and equipment, services and building work specification, procurement and installation.
Wherever possible, we would recommend that a qualified interim project engineer is appointed for these tasks, unless the client is able to appoint a suitably qualified engineer from within their organisation.
Project Engineering - Roles and Responsibilities
Clearly the roles and responsibilities for the project engineering activities will vary widely, but the essentials are usually associated with getting the very best definition of the scope and specification of the work, so that the necessary resources can be procured and managed.
On our capital project management programmes, the site work is invariably handled by outside contractors. The project engineering role is therefore focused on procurement of experienced, qualified contractors, and on seeing the work through to an effective completion. This ensures that the best standards of quality, safety and performance are achieved from the installation, consistent with meeting the deadlines and budgets set by the client.
